Silverstone 28th July 2007
Yet another full weekend
to contend with, commencing with a prestigious first visit to the Silverstone
Racing Circuit in Northamptonshire, to participate in the 'Silverstone
Classic'. Our imput for the day was to march down the racing track from
the famous 'Brooklands' to the starting line stop and play the National
Anthem to herald the start of the '2007 Silverstone Classic' at 19:00
hrs and then exit the circuit swiftly to avoid contact with the speeding
cars. With everything being organised precisely down to the minutest detail.
Arriving early afternoon to enable the members to watch part of the early race, and then taking advantage of the free fun fair rides before returning to the coach to prepare for the exciting forage into entertaining the racing car fraternity on the historic race track. However, just as the band had finished changing into uniform and warmed up their instruments, a last minute change of plan to the racing timetable enforced the abandonement of the Musketeers performance to enable the over running programme to be concluded. Disappointing nevertheless, the members agreed to pose for photographs on this prestigious occasion alongside some of the racing cars for posterity, and after visiting several hospitality podiums, the cancelled programme was soon forgotten. Talk about 'money for nowt', a wonderful day was enjoyed by all on what turned out to be a warm summers day. |
