AugustAfter a smooth landing all the members safely arrived home after a trouble free, relaxing but enjoyable break in Jersey. Jersey Battle of Flowers 2010 - The Week Read and follow the Bands activities from start to finish. Including photo's and stories from our own roving reporter. With TWO Sellout Parades and Thousands more lining the streets at each end of the Parade, the excitement and Buzz finally hits the Band. Everything packed and everyone ready to fly off to Jersey for our 5th visit to the "Battle of Flowers" JulyA Sunday by the Sea for the Band with the annual trip to Sutton on Sea Carnival 2010. After the parade, The band was awarded the "Best Band on Parade" out of 5 bands that attended the parade. Sutton on Sea Carnival 25th July 2010 All set for Holiday mood after the Contests with one trip to the East Coast before FLYING off to JERSEY for the "Battle of Flowers" The following day the band were booked at the Church Warsop Carnival for the fifth year running. Back by popular demand they lead the Parade. Church Warsop Carnival 18th July 2010 On the Day of the Amber Valley Championships a real turn up for the Books with the Band doing better than expected. Not only gaining 3rd Position in the Contest but also winning the "Best Band On Parade" too. Sadly one more point would of clinched joint second place with the Melton Mowbray Toy Soldiers. 17th July 2010 Horsley Woodhouse Carnival - (Amber Valley Championships) Preparation after the short break for the next event at Horsley Woodhouse and the second Competition of the year at the Amber Valley Championships. Early morning pick-up in Eastwood first and then onto the ‘Hollingwood’ to complete the process before heading across Chesterfield and picking up the A619 up into the Peak once again, this time our travels were taking the band to the Congleton Carnival, a place visited for a contest only once before, many years ago. Congleton Carnival 10th July 2010 First show of July is the 35th visit to Bakewell. This year sees a bumper crowd as there's No Tennis or Football to watch. JuneOn the Hottest Weekend for years the Band headed to Derby for The Derbyshire County Show 27th June 2010 The Duffield Carnival 26th June 2010 On a beautiful Sunday Afternoon the Band lead the Parade and gave a performance at Brinsley Carnival
19th June sees the band head in to the Peak District again to compete in the Marching Display Band Associations Contest in Chapel en le Frith, Just a short trip to Hasland for the Friends of the Park's Hasland Gala for the first real opportunity to perform the diplay on a proper arena. Our first visit into the Peak District with our annual appearance at New Mills Carnival New Mills Carnival - 12th June 2010
Practice is now being focused on the up and coming Competition in Chapel en le Frith on the 19th June. Saturday the 5th saw the Band head south to the Rugeley Charter Fayre The first visit there as the Musketeers and a Hot beautiful day had the crowds line the streets for a four Band parade. Rugeley Charter Fayre - 5th June 2010 MayLast engagement of May saw the band lead the Parade of Witnesses in Chesterfield. Followed by the Spirettes (June Fletcher Dance Academy) and a Brass Band. Parade of Witnesses 31st May 2010 For the Bank Holiday four members decided to participate in a little bit of Charity work, by opting to "Bungee Jump" at the Band's Main Sponsors Headquarters "The Hollingwood" After major changes to the display a Fantastic Practice with great improvements was had in Chesterfield last night. Just to finish polishing off the finer bits and a great season is on the cards for 2010. Into May and with the change in weather the Bands first outdoor performance at Chesterfield's Mayoral Fun Day at Queens Park. Also later in the Month several members are attempting a "Bungee Jump" in aid of Local Charities. AprilBookings are coming in thick and fast for 2010 with the regular venues and some fresh ones including the Bands first Overseas FLIGHT. Lets hope the Volcanic dust stays away. MarchDespite changing half the display the performance is still on schedule for the start of the Season January 2010Thanks to Computer Science Corporation for their support. Friday saw all money and donations collected for the "Monthly Dress Down Day" being donated to the Band. A total of £370 was handed over to Trevor Oldfield by Nominator Becky Harden. BREAKING NEWS !!!!! The Chesterfield Musketeers will be back performing in Competitions in 2010. With an invitation from the Marching Display Band Association to perform as a Guest Band in a selection of contests, the band jumped at the possibility of performing at one contest. It was later decided by a unanimous vote to apply for another contest later in the year, subject to the MDBA's approval.
