With
the Chesterfield members travelling down to Eastwood to join up with
the Eastwood members in the guise of the ‘Phoenix Band’ once again
for the Arts Festival fun day on Coronation Park.
Scheduled to present three separate fifteen minute performances on
stage before an enthusiastic crowd, which included several of the
youngsters parents seeing their off-springs perform with the band
for the first time.
Commencing the first spot with tunes from our arena display starting
with, ‘Let Me Entertain You’, followed by ‘Delilah’ and ‘Mucho Mambo’,
the drummers continued this fast spot adding their own ‘Drumline’
chorus, which included debuts for both Lilly Beth and Kelly in the
lineout.

| Once
again the girls, (Sara, Casha, Jemma and Jade) gave us their rendition
of the ‘Dance with the Devil’ swordfight before the first show was concluded
with the solo performance from Kevin, taking over again from Julie,
with ‘Angels’.
Time then for a walk around the field to see the many attractions dotted
around, including watching the amazing Polar Bear routine, before taking
light refreshments and starting the second spot. This featured the rest
of tunes from the arena programme including ‘Rodriguez’ featuring the
second solo from our Band Master before taking another great round of
applause.
|
The
final presentation was created by the members own selection which
went down very well, if the applause received was anything to go by,
all in all the entire afternoon was greeted with surprise and intrepidation,
and well presented by a young and enthusiastic team of band members,
Throughout the afternoon several new recruits were signed up through
Sara’s persuasion in the gazebo, between spots, which will be something
to look out for at practise.
Once again it was a fantastic pleasure to be involved with everybody,
which makes us oldies feel so young again, and we all now look forward
to our Tuesday night stint at Kimberley School.
