Cutthorpe Carnival 20th July 2008

One year on from a very wet Cutthorpe Carnival 2007, the members arrived at the cricket ground nice and early to set up the fundraising Tombola stall in the large craft marquee, which thankfully was much drier under foot than at last years event. The younger members indulged in a furious game of competitive football on the field before having to change in preparation for the walk up to the parade starting point at the Peacock Inn at 2:00pm.

Go Callum.........

First Parade.... First Time.... FIRST CLASS

The Musketeers Showband briskly leading the lengthy mass of floats in the sunny but blustery weather, with Callum making his much heralded debut on mace with the band, the parade briefly stopped as they reached the ‘four lane ends’ end of the village before assembling and returning to the cricket ground past the large clapping crowd on the roadside.

Leading Into Delilah.....

During the build up to the bands arena display time of 3:30, much interest had been shown by the carnival attendees to the smartly turned out members, so everyone was alert to the occasion which preceded a very well presented programme of marching and music for the appreciative crowd. Afterwards many good comments were forthcoming from these people and especially the organising committee.

Changing back into civvies the youngsters were back on the field for another no holds barred kick about watched by the non playing members offering their encouragement and with the stall doing a brisk trade inside the marquee helping raise the much needed funding for the approaching ‘Jersey’ trip, the day turned out very nice all round for the band
