Church Warsop Carnival 18th July 2010

Continuing the weekend of activity by driving over in our own cars to The Carrs Showground at Warsop to participate in the Annual Carnival for the fifth time.

Unfortunately, this year the mini bus normally on hand is not there to take our members up to the parade starting point this year so, alternate arrangements would have to be put in place to transport everyone over after changing into uniform in good time to take up the leading position, but first, most of the members took the liberty of enjoying a visit to the fast food outlets around the arena for a bacon butty or such.

At 1:00 the band commenced the parade and were soon performing the usual routines around the many short terraced streets along the route, stopping outside a designated Residential Home to play the residents a tune before continuing into the town centre and then up the main road back towards the very large Carrs Showground.

Arriving near the staged area the band was dismissed whilst the following parade retinue and floats lined up alongside the stage.

Time now for the members to get their chairs out for a chin wag and bitching session or take a walk around the many stands and stalls surrounding the showground and not forgetting the attraction of the large funfair as well.

At 2:30 the band were required to present their display programme in the hastily erected fenced arena giving another well appreciated display without the yesterdays pressure on them which ensured a good finish to the weekend of entertainment from the ‘Musketeers’.

With the uniforms stashed and fabreezed in Saras Car, the members could now choose to relax a short while or head for home at their leisure, our thanks once again for everyone’s support and contributions over the two days.
