Hasland Gala 12th June 2011

An early set up with the Caravan and awning to accommodate the first tombola of the season and protection from the impending heavy rain. Some of the members set up an impromptu tea and coffee bar at the rear of the cars and kept themselves amused under the shade of the trees.

Then It started raining !!!!!

A short parade around the arena at noon to help introduce its Local Villages Carnival Queens into the event was greeted along with the weather as it changed to a slight drizzle.

It soon became apparent that the rain was here to stay and the outdoor programme was severely affected. Although our fundraising team still attracted the Punters into purchasing tickets from its stall.

Commencing with the scheduled “line dancing” demonstration, the entertainment now featured on stage in Eastwood Hall, by 2pm the Musketeers were ready to take to the stage with a musical rendition of the outdoor music display which kept the public entertained for the next 20 minutes along with a young girl who was content pole dancing to the music on the leg of a static notice board..

At the commencement of the programme a swift change out of uniform before getting wet again as the soggy park was now becoming disserted, although a few brave teenagers did keep the members at the stall busy for a while, before the remaining prizes were cleared away for another day. Another good day fund wise for the band but not for the organiser’s efforts. Thanks to Ann, Nat and her band of helpers
